There are 2 main strands to the high quality services we provide within health in justice settings. These are the substance misuse services and mental health services we provide in over 24 prison establishments across the country.

Our multi-disciplinary, experienced staff provide specialist addiction and mental health services in a range of settings across the prison estate, including young offenders, female, open, closed and high secure prisons. Inclusion are the largest NHS provider of prison-based alcohol and drug services in England.

Our teams work in collaboration with key partners within the host prisons, working alongside prison officers, governors, offender management teams and many more.

We provide services that start from reception and initial screening through to transfer or release of individuals. We work with those in need to provide comprehensive, holistic care that builds on existing strengths no matter how small.

We provide pharmacological interventions, psychosocial interventions, holisitic therapies, and work with our colleagues within the prison to ensure full health needs are met. We have a comprehensive structured programme based on behaviour change principles proven to help build resilience and skills of those we work with to make positive changes for the better. We have a vibrant recovery champion and peer support scheme which several prisons currently have the benefit of.   We are strong believers that recovery communities can be created within prisons and our services aim to do this where prison regime allows.

  • Our aim is to provide the best quality care we can which means ensuring respect and wellbeing is central to our approach in supporting people to change their lives for the better
